5 Multitasking Tricks to Get the Most Out of Your Skincare

There are so many skincare products and so many new things to try out thereenough to make you almost miss the time when the only thing you needed for your skin was Vaseline and cold cream. We feel you. But let’s leave the petroleum jelly out of it and make our products multi-task in a better way. Who says a lip product is only for your lips? Whether you’re in a hurry, on a trip and forgot to pack a necessary item, or simply into making your products do more, here are a few ways to make your products multitask.

Lip Oil as a Cuticle Treatment and Dewy Highlighter

Skincare ingredients that moisturize your lips also help your dry cuticles. Sunflower seed oil, jojoba oil, olive oil are all nourishing ingredients often found in cuticle oils. No surprise, they show up in lip oils too. Our Silk Slip Conditioning Lip Oil contains a blend of nourishing oils plus vitamin E to soften and soothe dry lips and dry cuticles. Next time you reapply to your lips, take a minute to give your cuticles some love. It’s a great habit to get into before bed too.

As the no-makeup makeup look is slowly taking over the world, try swapping your shimmery highlighter for lip oil. Use a few drops as a highlighter on the high points of your cheeks and brow bones to create that natural, dewy glow. If you’re feeling fancy, apply it to your eyelids for a subtly glossy look too. Or, if you're looking to add a subtle pop of color to your look, dab a pea-size amount of our Tinted Lip Oils onto cheeks in lieu of blush.

Overnight Peel as a Hand Lotion for Aging Skin

Overnight peels for your face are not only formulated with powerful ingredients for aging skin (like AHAs), but are also packed with moisturizing ingredients so the exfoliating acids won’t dry out your skin. That is exactly what your hands need. Like our faces, and unlike the rest of our bodies, our hands are always working and exposed to harsh weather and conditions, making them just as susceptible to aging. Unlike our faces, our hands don’t get the cleanse-exfoliate-treat-moisturize routine on the daily. Next time you’re slipping into bed and slipping on a layer of your favorite overnight peel, take a little extra and step up your hand cream game. A gentle peel, like The Shortcut Overnight Facial, used this way can help slow down those signs of aging on your hands while still moisturizing them.

Clay Mask as a Spot Treatment and Face Wash

Clay’s pore-clearing power makes a hero for oily and acne-prone skin types. Clay is most often used in masks designed to be used all over your face, but there are other ways that you can take advantage of a traditional clay mask. Clay masks, like our Find Clarity Purifying Mask, work double duty as spot treatmentsdrying out pimples (including white heads) when you leave it on them overnight. You can even use it on wet skin as a detoxifying face wash when your pores feel congested or when you’re saving space in your carry-on. One mask, many powers.

Cleansing Balm as an Emergency Shave Cream

Remember the time you flipped through all the bottles in the shower trying to find something to shave your legs with? We all do, and we have a solution. Cleansing balms are a great emergency solve for those times or when you're on the road and packing light. Unlike conditioner, the age-old shaving cream substitute, which can get stuck in the blades, oil-based products provide a smooth glide for your razor. Our Day Dissolve Cleansing Balm is made with vitamin E and nourishing oils like jojoba and avocado oil that moisturize your legs while helping you get an even, close shave.
