Whether you’re oily or dry, acne-prone or focused on aging skin, the very first step of every skincare routine is to wash your face. The best facial cleanser benefits skin by effectively removing dirt, oil, bacteria, and other lingering buildup before it has the chance to clog pores and cause breakouts, oiliness, irritation, redness, and other common skin concerns.

What Type of Face Wash Is Best For My Skin?

Depending on your skin type, concerns, and goals, there are different types of skin cleansers to keep in rotation. Good to know: All Versed cleansers are non-toxic, soap-free, and eye-safe.

Our Wash It Out Gel Cleanser is ideal if you’re simply looking for a basic, everyday cleanser. Formulated with anti-inflammatory rosewater and barrier-strengthening ceramides, it’s lightweight, refreshing, and made for all skin types and concerns.

Oil-based cleansers, such as our Day Dissolve Cleansing Balm, are particularly beneficial for those that wear makeup and sunscreen. To remove 100% of impurities, double cleanse first with an oil-based cleanser then once more with a water-based one (such as Wash It Out).

Those with dry and sensitive skin should look for a creamy cleanser that’s both pH-balanced and non-stripping, like our Gentle Cycle Milky Cleanser. Probiotics, oat milk, and marula oil work together to leave skin softened and smoothed while calming inflammation, redness, and acne.

Breakout-prone or focused on minimizing pores? Look for the BHA salicylic acid in your face wash, like Keep the Peace Acne-Calming Cream Cleanser has.

How to Use a Skin Cleanser

While the ‘how to use’ instructions of any face wash are pretty basic, wet fingertips and massage into the skin for at least 60 seconds to effectively cleanse the skin. Rinse with lukewarm water and gently pat dry before moving on to other steps in your routine, such as face masks and moisturizers.
